With Gratitude to David Schmitt and American Rivers

Presentation of my photograph of the Tuckasegee River to David Schmidt

It’s not every day that I get to see how happy my photographs make the people who purchase or are awarded them. I’m so grateful to the folks at American Rivers for sending me this image and so honored that one of my photographs was chosen to be presented to David Schmitt for his nine years of service on their Board. They gave him this photograph in appreciation for his commitment, leadership and dedication to protecting and restoring America’s rivers.

David is the Executive Director of the Mill Creek Alliance, which protects the Mill Creek Watershed that flows through 37 jurisdictions in Greater Cincinnati before flowing into the Ohio River. Mr. Schmitt earned a B.S. in Biology from Marietta College, an M.S. in Forestry from the University of Maine, and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He has served on the boards of multiple environmental organizations and is experienced in river conservation, solid waste management, and brownfield remediation, as well as being an expert on environmental laws and regulations. We owe people like him so much gratitude for protecting or waterways, watersheds, and riparian banks.

I wish I could have thanked him in person. Rivers are the lifeblood of the earth and we and all living creatures depend on them for our well-being and survival.
