Though the situation is far from resolved, I am heartened to learn that representatives from the UN will be visiting the Sacred Stone Camp to investigate the way the peaceful indigenous protectors are being treated. In honor of this development, I am sharing a few photographs of dance ceremonies that I saw during the five days I was at camp.
The Nisqually came from Washington State for the canoe voyage from Bismarck to camp. In an earlier blog, I shared photographs of that amazing and inspiring event. The Nisqually also danced and sang for everyone one night. I wished I could have stayed for weeks, to learn all the different cultures. Below are a few more photographs from this performance and one other.
