In honor of Mother's Day and the bright uplifting energy my own mother and best friend always brings to my life, I want to share these spring flowers I recently saw in the Columbia River Gorge. Lying on the ground looking up at them, their vibrant positive nature radiated against the clear blue sky. I felt so inspired, as if they could bring positive blessing into my life.
My friend Amy called to me to come quickly, to see these amazing flowering pine cones. I didn't even realize that pine cones had flowers before this. It was fantastic to see them in all stages, being nurtured by the sun and wonderful climate here. It reminded me too, of how my mother has nurtured me through every stage of my life, even now, as I have been embarking on a new stage since my own children left home and I am once again alone.
The balsam root flowers covered the slopes, with wild grasses in between, new growth on the trees and gathering clouds all coming together to create beautiful scenes that allowed me to commune fully with nature and delight in her miracles. So much promise and hope in springtime. I am trying to keep this memory alive as Florida heads into withering summer temperatures already.
The lupines were so delicate and their colors so brilliant. We were so blessed to have such beautiful weather and I am blessed to have such a beautiful mother... These are for you.
